“Do you have a minute? I have a great idea.” “I have to turn this project in half an hour. Can you take a look at it for me?” “So, what did you think of the ballgame last night?” “I’ll call when I have a really strong investment recommendation, OK?” These are some of the distractions that people face every day.
Remember, you have a choice. You can permit salespeople to walk in unannounced; you can read every e-mail joke; you can let others control your time by dropping everything when they call; you can be distracted by those who don’t value their time and try to steal yours; or you can focus on priorities that help you accomplish your goals. It’s time to avoid distractions.
